In A Single Hand

In A Single Hand

we make what
will become one
in the care
of a single hand

knowing not why
it is as
it becomes in
the care of
a single hand

shaping what is
given mending what
is torn in
the care of
a single hand

fusing binding bending
in fire at
the end of tong
and hammer shaped
by the will
of a single hand

naming what cannot
be claimed making
its mark in the
care of a single hand

calling to order
silencing the rancor
of angry voices
by will of
a single hand

singing the song
that is yours alone
in the sound
of a single voice
